UTStarcom Wins Multi-Province PAS Contracts from China Telecom

According to UTStarcom, the company has won PAS (Personal Access System) equipment and terminal contracts from China Telecom, China's largest fixed-line telecom operator. Equipment is slated for installation in the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi and Yunnan and in the in the city of Shanghai. This contract has a value of US$100 million. The terminal contract amounts to US$85.2 million. In the first five months of 2005 PAS subscriptions increased by 12.5% in China to more than 77 million at the end of May, with PAS accounting for 60% of all fixed-line subscriptions.
